OCUS Cleveland – St. Herman House is excited to welcome Eduardo as our new Food Service Manager.

For Eduardo, this new role is more than a new job. It is the latest chapter in his own story with St. Herman House.

Eduardo first came to St. Herman House in the spring of 2024 seeking shelter. He quickly became involved in the daily life of the house, always stepping in to help wherever he could—especially in the kitchen.

With more than two decades of food service experience, Eduardo regularly put his skills to work, helping prepare meals when needed and becoming a familiar part of the St. Herman House community.

A New Role in “the Family”

Now, Eduardo is bringing that experience to the kitchen in a new way as Food Service Manager.

St. Herman House serves three meals a day, seven days a week, every day of the year. The kitchen is at the heart of that work, providing thousands of meals each year to residents and neighbors in need.

For Eduardo, preparing those meals is also an opportunity to communicate the care and hospitality that he experienced at St. Herman House himself.

As he shared:

“I want to provide well-balanced meals that demonstrate the love and care St. Herman’s gives to the community. Being a good steward of all the food donations is important to me. I look forward to being part of the FOCUS family.”

Eduardo has already hit the ground running, developing plans to strengthen the kitchen and meal service, bring fresh ideas to the program, and make the best possible use of the food generously provided by donors.

The Community of St. Herman House

Since 1977, St. Herman House has served as an Orthodox Christian house of hospitality in Cleveland, providing shelter, meals, and practical support to neighbors in need.

But those who live, work, volunteer, and gather here know that St. Herman House is about more than services.

We call our community “the Family.”

Eduardo’s story is a beautiful example of what that can mean. He first walked through the doors looking for a safe place to stay. He became part of the daily life of the house, shared his own gifts with the community, and is now helping lead one of the ministries at the very heart of St. Herman House.

We are grateful for Eduardo’s heart for service and excited to see where he takes the food service program next.
