With the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, we are pleased to announce the assignment of Rev. Fr. Theofanis Papantonis as Presiding Priest of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Flushing, New York, effective November 16, 2026.
Born and raised in Astoria, Queens, Fr. Theofanis attended Saint Demetrios Greek American School before continuing his studies at New York University. Answering God’s call to the Holy Priesthood, he pursued his theological education at Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, Massachusetts.
Following his graduation, Fr. Theofanis began his ministry at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Flushing, where he served as Youth Director for two years. He was subsequently ordained to the Holy Priesthood and continued serving the faithful of St. Nicholas until 2013.
In 2013, he was assigned to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Hicksville, New York, where he has faithfully served for the past 13 years, dedicating himself to the spiritual growth of the parish, the nurturing of families and young people, and the pastoral care of the faithful.
Fr. Theofanis now returns to St. Nicholas in Flushing, the very parish where his journey of service to the Church began, bringing his years of pastoral experience, love for the faithful, and dedication to Christ and His Holy Church. Fr. Theofanis is married to Presvytera Maria, and together they are blessed with three children.
