FOCUS North America is pleased to welcome Maria Morearty as the Center Director of FOCUS San Francisco! A Bay Area native with a heart for service and a deep commitment to her Orthodox faith, Maria is excited to help grow the ministry of FOCUS in her home community.
As Center Director, Maria oversees FOCUS San Francisco’s weekly food bank and will help guide the Center’s growth as it explores new opportunities to serve neighbors experiencing poverty and other challenges throughout the city.
“I’m so grateful to be starting this work with FOCUS. There’s already a lot of good happening at the center, and I’m looking forward to supporting our food bank and discovering the other ways we can care for our neighbors here in San Francisco.” — Maria Morearty
Maria graduated with honors from the University of San Diego with a degree in Accountancy before beginning her professional career in tax at Ernst & Young. Through her experience in public accounting, she developed valuable skills in organization, communication, and collaborative problem-solving, which she now brings to her leadership at FOCUS San Francisco.
Throughout her life, Maria has remained deeply involved in the Orthodox Church. During college, she founded and served as president of her Orthodox Christian Fellowship chapter and spent a semester studying at Hellenic College Holy Cross. She also serves on the CrossRoad Alumni Advisory Board, helping foster a vibrant pan-Orthodox community among alumni of the CrossRoad Summer Institute.
Outside of her professional and ministry commitments, Maria enjoys writing, swimming, Greek dance, and traveling.
As FOCUS San Francisco continues to grow, Maria looks forward to building relationships with neighbors, volunteers, and local Orthodox parishes, bringing the community together in service that restores dignity, transforms lives, and reveals Christ’s love.
Please join us in warmly welcoming Maria to the FOCUS family! We look forward to all that God has in store for FOCUS San Francisco under her leadership, and to seeing the many ways this ministry will continue to make love visible throughout the Bay Area.
