His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America announces the assignment of the Very Reverend Archimandrite Michael Giavris to Kimisis Church in Brooklyn, New York, effective June 16, 2026. Archimandrite Michael is a clergyman of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, born in 1985 and raised between the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, and Tripoli in Arcadia, Greece. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois Chicago and Hellenic College, and pursued graduate theological studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, receiving his Master of Divinity in 2011. He also holds a diploma and teaching license in Byzantine Music from the Central Music Conservatory of Thessaloniki.
Archimandrite Michael has served the Church in multiple capacities, including in the Office of the Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s English Office, and the Office of the Archbishop. He was ordained to the Holy Diaconate on February 2, 2020, and to the Holy Priesthood on November 8, 2022, when he was also elevated to the rank of Archimandrite. He currently serves as Presiding Priest of the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George & Saint Demetrios in East Harlem, New York City, and will continue his dedicated pastoral ministry as he begins his new assignment at Kimisis Church, Brooklyn, offering faithful service to the parish community and the proclamation of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
