His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America announces the assignment of Reverend Presbyter Neofitos Sarigiannis to Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Albany, New York, effective July 1, 2026 as he joins the parish family in its continued spiritual life and ministry. Fr. Neofitos is a graduate of the School of Theology at the University of Athens (2006), and was ordained to the Holy Diaconate and Holy Priesthood in 2019. He most recently served with dedication as Proistamenos of Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Schenectady, New York for six and a half years.

During his ministry, Fr. Neofitos has also served as Spiritual Advisor to the Journey of Marriage Ministry (2023), Vicar of the Upstate New York Vicariate (2025), and Treasurer of the St. John Chrysostom Clergy Syndesmos of the Archdiocesan District. Prior to ordination, he served for eleven years as Pastoral Assistant and Chanter at the Church of the Holy Resurrection in Brookville, New York, and has been a member of the Archdiocesan Byzantine Choir since 2013. He is joined in this new assignment by his wife, Presvytera Catherine, and their children, George and Eleni. Fr. Neofitos looks forward to serving the faithful of Saint Sophia, remaining committed to the spiritual growth of the parish, the strengthening of parish life, and the proclamation of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
