His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America welcomed Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Greece’s Minister of Economy, at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America headquarters in Manhattan, New York. Minister Pierrakakis was accompanied by the Consul General of Greece in New York, Iphigenia Kanara.

Pierrakakis’s visit follows a series of high-level meetings in Washington, D.C. with senior U.S. administration officials. The minister conveyed his optimism about Greece’s growing role as a pillar of economic stability and a strategic partner to the U.S.

During their meeting, Archbishop Elpidophoros spoke about His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew’s historic visit to the U.S. and his warm encounters with U.S. President Donald Trump, senior members of Congress, and the Trump Administration. His Eminence reaffirmed that the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America—its clergy and laity alike—stands ready to serve as a bridge between the two nations, advancing mutual understanding and cooperation.

The Archbishop and Minister Pierrakakis last met in Athens, when His Eminence visited the minister in his previous role as Minister of Education. Concluding their meeting in New York, Archbishop Elpidophoros congratulated Minister Pierrakakis on his productive trip and wished him continued success in his current post.
