His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America announces the assignment of the Reverend Protopresbyter Paschalios (Pat) Legato to Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Schenectady, New York, effective July 1, 2026. Fr. Paschalios was born and raised in Stamford, Connecticut, and is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. Prior to his theological studies, he served for eight years as a teacher, coach, and mentor. He later attended Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, graduating with a Master of Divinity in 1986.
Since his ordination to the Holy Priesthood in 1986, Fr. Paschalios has offered decades of devoted pastoral service to the Church. He first served at Saint Paraskevi Church in Greenlawn, New York, as an assistant to Protopresbyter Nicholas Sotiropoulos, and in 1989 was assigned as Proistamenos of Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Albany, New York, where he faithfully served for 37 years. During his tenure, he was instrumental in expanding the parish facilities and overseeing the completion of the church interior according to traditional Byzantine iconographic standards. He is married and blessed with two children. Fr. Paschalios now begins a new chapter of ministry at Saint George Church in Schenectady, New York, the oldest parish in the Capital Region, where he will continue to serve with dedication and pastoral care.
