The CrossRoad Summer Institute at Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology began its 14th season with a very successful first session from June 17-27. 32 young Orthodox Christians from 20 states attended.

“Their presence on our campus and zeal to learn and practice the Orthodox faith, while establishing long-lasting friendships and enjoying the summer fun and culture of Greater Boston, is a joy to witness,” said Rev. Fr. Christopher T. Metropulos, HCHC President.

CrossRoad is an academic institute that prepares high school juniors and seniors to make major life decisions and connect deeply with the Orthodox Christian theological and spiritual tradition. In the course of ten highly varied and busy days, the participants visited churches of different jurisdictions: Greek, Antiochian, Bulgarian, OCA, and also Coptic. They took courses on Scripture and theology and attended daily services in Holy Cross Chapel. CrossRoad’s exceptional staff—some of them former CrossRoaders themselves—led interactive workshops on topics such as the sanctification of creation, faith and science, the impact of pop culture and technology on society, and the lives of the saints. Off-campus activities included a guided tour of Boston with a picnic on Boston Common and a beach day on the beautiful North Shore. The session concluded with an open mic/talent show on the last evening.

Rev. Fr. Metropulos expressed thanks for “the overwhelming outpouring of donor support and applications for the program.” He added, “It is my hope that CrossRoad will continue to grow and provide an outlet for Orthodox Christian young people’s faith, education, and service for years to come. And that, having lived on our campus and interacted with our current students, faculty, and staff, these participants will consider returning to HCHC for their undergraduate and graduate studies. We pray that Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will continue to bless each of the participants and the program administrators, and that He will continue to pour forth the Holy Spirit upon them.”
