[STOTS Communication, South Canaan, PA]  The Holy Synod restored the awarding of mitres during their Spring 2017 meeting.  Several STOTS graduates are slated to receive mitres:

Archpriest John Nehrebecki (STOTS class of 1950, celebrated his 65th anniversary of marriage on May 21, 2017, with an archpastoral visit of His Eminence, Michael, Archbishop of New York, and the Diocese of New York and New Jersey. Archbishop Michael, also the Rector of St. Tikhon’s Seminary, blessed Fr. John with the right to wear the mitre during the celebration of the Divine Liturgy.

Archpriest Igor Soroka, (STOTS Class of 1946) was granted the right to wear the mitre on Pentecost Sunday (see photos).  He was recently recognized for 58 years of ministry in his one and only parish, as well as serving as a church musician.  See that story here. His Eminence, Melchisedek, Archbishop of Pittsburgh and the Diocese of Western PA awarded him this right.

Archpriest Nicholas Timpko, (STOTS Class of 1962) has also been identified to receive the right to wear the mitre by His Eminence, Nikon, Archbishop of Boston, New England, and the Albanian Archdiocese, though this event has not yet occurred.

May God grant many years to the faithful servants of God, Archpriests John, Igor, and Nicholas!
