On Thursday, December 15, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, and representative of the Russian World People’s Council to the United Nations, His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk attended memorial services for the victims of the bombing in the Coptic church of Apostle Peter in Cairo on December 11. The services were held in the Coptic Orthodox Church of Archangel Michael and St. Minas in Staten Island, NY.
The memorial services were attended by representatives from the Syro-Jacobite, Ethiopian, Armenian Apostolic and Roman Catholic Churches as well as the Orthodox Church in America. The Consul General of Egypt to the United States as well as other diplomats attended.
After the services, Bishop John relayed the condolences of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia. During the meeting with the hierarchs and diplomats, Bishop John discussed plans to act as a common witness to the tragic circumstances Christians in the Middle East are facing as well as the efforts of Patriarch Kirill and the Russian Orthodox Church to help regulate the situation in the region.
