On Friday, November 18, the Primate of the Orthodox Church in American, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of All America and Canada arrived in Moscow to take part in the celebrations of the 70th birthday of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
Greeting His Beatitude at the Sheremetyevo airport were Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations; Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA; Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, DECR Deputy Chairman; Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, DECR secretary for Inter-Orthodox relations; and Mr. Dmitry Petrovsky, DECR staff member. Archpriest Chad Hatfield, chancellor of St. Vladimir’s Theological Seminary in New York, also welcomed Metropolitan Tikhon.
Also attending as part of the delegation from the Orthodox Church in America is Bishop Daniel of Santa Rosa, Archimandrite Gerasim (Eliel), Archpriest Nazari Polataiko, Archdeacon Joseph Matusiak, and reader Roman Ostash.
