MONTREAL, QC – July 25, 2026 – With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel, His Grace Bishop Andrei of Cleveland made a pastoral visit on Saturday, July 25, 2026, to St. Elijah Romanian Orthodox Parish in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on the occasion of the parish’s patronal feast.
Although the feast of the Holy Prophet Elijah is observed on July 20, the parish celebrated its patronal feast during the weekend, allowing a greater number of the faithful to participate in this joyous occasion.
His Grace officiated the Holy and Divine Liturgy, assisted by the parish priest, V. Rev. Fr. Ioan Cotrigasanu, together with numerous clergy from the Montreal area.
The joy of the celebration was made even greater by the presence of a fragment of the holy relics of St. Olga of Alaska, which had been brought from the Diocesan Center of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America for the veneration of the faithful. Many approached the holy relics with reverence, asking for the intercessions of the newly glorified saint.
This year’s celebration was also significant because the Holy and Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the parish’s new location. The community is currently in the process of acquiring the property, which will become the future home for its liturgical services, cultural activities, and parish gatherings. This marks an important milestone in the continued growth and development of the Romanian Orthodox community in Montreal.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the faithful gathered for a festive agape meal, giving thanks to God for His abundant blessings and praying for the continued prosperity of the parish under the heavenly protection of the Holy Prophet Elijah.
Preasfințitul Părinte Andrei a săvârșit Sfânta și Dumnezeiasca Liturghie cu prilejul hramului Parohiei „Sfântul Proroc Ilie” din Montreal, Canada
MONTREAL, QC – 25 iulie 2026 – Cu binecuvântarea Înaltpreasfințitului Părinte Arhiepiscop Nathaniel, Preasfințitul Părinte Andrei de Cleveland și Episcop-vicar al Episcopiei Ortodoxe Române din America, a efectuat sâmbătă, 25 iulie 2026, o vizită pastorală la Parohia Ortodoxă Română „Sfântul Proroc Ilie” din Montreal, provincia Quebec, Canada, cu prilejul sărbătoririi hramului parohiei.
Deși sărbătoarea Sfântului Slăvitului Proroc Ilie Tesviteanul este prăznuită în fiecare an la 20 iulie, comunitatea parohială a ales să își serbeze hramul în weekend, oferind astfel posibilitatea unui număr cât mai mare de credincioși să participe la această bucurie duhovnicească.
Preasfinția Sa a săvârșit Sfânta și Dumnezeiasca Liturghie, având alături în slujire pe părintele paroh, PC. Pr. Ioan Cotrigasanu, împreună cu un sobor de preoți și diaconi din zona Montrealului.
Bucuria credincioșilor a fost sporită de posibilitatea de a se închina la racla cu o părticică din moaștele Sfintei Olga din Alaska, adusă spre închinare de la Centrul Eparhial al Episcopiei Ortodoxe Române din America. Numeroși credincioși au venit cu evlavie pentru a cere mijlocirea sfintei și pentru a primi binecuvântarea lui Dumnezeu.
Un moment deosebit pentru viața parohiei l-a constituit faptul că Sfânta și Dumnezeiasca Liturghie a fost săvârșită într-un nou locaș, comunitatea aflându-se în prezent în procesul de achiziționare a acestei proprietăți. Noul spațiu este destinat să devină centrul vieții liturgice, culturale și comunitare al parohiei, reprezentând un pas important în dezvoltarea și consolidarea comunității ortodoxe românești din Montreal.
La finalul Sfintei Liturghii a urmat tradiționala agapă frățească pregătită de doamnele parohiei.
