At July 2’s Agape Awards at the Clergy Laity Congress in Cleveland, Ohio, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros praised the women of Philoptochos as faithful servants, leaders, and volunteers who embody Christian love through their care for others.

“His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros reminded the audience that the ability to love our neighbor flows from first experiencing God’s love for humanity. Through their ministries, Philoptochos members transform faith into action, offering compassion, hope, and practical support to those in need. Their dedication, energy, and commitment to serving every generation are a powerful witness to Christ’s love at work in the world. May God continue to bless and strengthen their sacred ministry,” writes Fr. George Tsahakis. “This prestigious recognition reflects the chapter’s unwavering commitment to Christian stewardship, compassionate outreach, and faithful service to those in need.”

“Never forget that throughout the Divine Liturgy, over and over again, God is identified as the ‘Philanthropos’—the One Who loves Humankind. You, the Philoptochos, share in God’s embrace of every single soul. Yours is a ministry of the highest order and value,” Archbishop Elpidophoros said.

“Your faithful witness transforms compassion into action and exemplifies the very best of Philoptochos—serving Christ by serving others. We pray God continue to bless your ministry and inspire your efforts as you bring hope, healing, and Christ’s love to countless lives,” Fr. George Tsahakis.
