Filled with prayer, learning, fellowship, and joyful celebration, the second full day of the 2026 National Young Adult League (YAL) Conference proved to be a truly memorable day in Cleveland, OH. The day’s schedule included workshops, fellowship activities, and the Conference Gala – a celebration reflecting the Conference’s commitment to faith, spiritual growth, and community.
The day began with Orthros, followed by breakfast and a remarks from His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America. Introduced by His Eminence Metropolitan Savas of Pittsburgh, Archbishop Elpidophoros shared words of encouragement with the young adults and engaged participants in a thoughtful and inspiring question-and-answer session.
Following breakfast, attendees participated in a series of impactful workshops led by Fr. Anastasios Athanasiou, Fr. Dimitri Tsikouris, and Dr. Ann Bezzerides. Through meaningful discussion and reflection, participants were challenged to deepen their faith, strengthen their involvement in the life of the Church, and consider how they are called to serve Christ in their daily lives.
In the afternoon, the Conference shifted into a spirit of fellowship and friendly competition as participants traveled to Sandbox Volleyball Club for a Sand Volleyball Tournament and a variety of outdoor games. Under the summer sun, young adults enjoyed time together building friendships and creating memories. The afternoon was made even sweeter with a special visit from the iconic Cleveland favorite, Swenson’s, which treated participants to a delicious local meal.
After returning to the hotel to prepare for the evening festivities, attendees gathered for Vespers and for the highly anticipated YAL Conference Gala. The Gala began with a Cocktail Hour sponsored by Hellenic College Holy Cross School of Theology (HCHC), offering young adults an opportunity for fellowship, networking, and meaningful conversation about the educational and ministry opportunities available through HCHC.
The Gala dinner featured remarks from 2026 Conference Chairman John Panos and National Y2AM Director Eva Konstantakos, who expressed gratitude to the many clergy, volunteers, sponsors, donors, and young adults whose commitment and support make the National YAL Conference possible. His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros then delivered a powerful address, elaborating on the Conference theme “Rise and Build: Claim Your Calling,” encouraging participants to continue embracing their calling as active and faithful members of the Body of Christ and to carry the spirit of the Conference back to their home parishes and communities.
Following dinner, attendees were treated to a special musical performance by His Eminence Metropolitan Savas of Pittsburgh, whose songs quickly had the audience singing along. The evening concluded with lively dancing and celebration accompanied by a live Greek band, in a joyful expression of fellowship and unity.
As the day came to a close, participants reflected on a day overflowing with blessings, meaningful encounters, and Christ-centered fellowship. The 2026 National YAL Conference now looks ahead to Saturday’s exciting events, featuring a spectacular view of Cleveland’s Independence Day fireworks celebration commemorating both the Fourth of July and the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America.
