His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon celebrates his 57th birthday today.
This morning, His Beatitude presided at the celebration of the hierarchical Divine Liturgy at Saint Mark’s church in Bethesda, MD. Concelebrating with His Beatitude were Archpriest John Vitko, the diocesan chancellor, Archpriest Gregory Safchuk, rector of Saint Mark’s, Priest Alessandro Margheritino, OCA Secretary, and other diocesan clergy. The responses were sung by the Archdiocesan Choir under the direction of Ms. Juliana Woodill. During the liturgy, His Beatitude awarded the palitza to Archpriest Valery Shemchuck, associate pastor at Saint Nicholas Cathedral in Washington, DC
At the conclusion of the liturgy, Archpriest John Vitko welcomed the faithful and congratulated His Beatitude on his birthday.Juliana Woodill also presented His Beatitude with a donation from the Archdiocesan Choir for the Diocese of Alaska, given in honor of His Beatitude’s birthday.
