In Memoriam: Preoteasa Mihaela Iancu (1959–2026)

With profound sadness, yet with hope in the Resurrection and eternal life, we announce the falling asleep in the Lord of Preoteasa Mihaela Iancu, beloved wife of the Very Reverend Father Ioan Iancu, parish priest of the Nativity of the Ever-Virgin Mary Romanian Orthodox Parish in Laval (Montreal), Quebec.

Mihaela Iancu was born on November 27, 1959, in Pitești, Argeș County, Romania. She attended the Pitești High School of Arts, where she studied painting, and later graduated from the Faculty of Theology and Letters in Pitești. She served with dedication as a teacher of Religion, Romanian Language and Literature, and French, shaping generations of students through faith, culture, and love for others.

On June 16, 1983, she married Father Ioan Iancu, with whom she shared more than four decades of service and sacrifice in the Church, fulfilling her calling as a priest’s wife with love and devotion.

In February 2006, the family settled in Canada, where she continued to be a steadfast support to the parish community, a loving wife, a devoted mother, and an affectionate grandmother.

She leaves to mourn her beloved husband, Father Ioan Iancu; their two sons, Cezar Gabriel and Eduard Alexandru Iancu; her beloved grandchildren; and all those who knew her and cherished her kindness, faith, and nobility of soul.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Laval, Quebec.

We pray that our Lord Jesus Christ, Who is the Resurrection and the Life, will grant rest to the soul of His servant Mihaela in the dwelling place of the righteous, where there is neither sickness, nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life everlasting.

May her memory be eternal!

În Memoriam: Preoteasa Mihaela Iancu (1959-2026)

Cu adâncă tristețe dar cu nădejdea Învierii și a vieții veșnice, anunțăm trecerea la cele veșnice a Doamnei Preotease Mihaela Iancu, soția părintelui Ioan Iancu din Parohia Nașterea Maicii Domnului din Laval (Montreal), Quebec.

Născută la Pitești în 27 noiembrie 1959, județul Argeș, Mihaela Iancu a urmat Liceul de Artă din Pitești, Secția Pictură, iar mai apoi Facultatea de Teologie-Litere din Pitești. A slujit cu dăruire ca profesoară de Religie, Limba și Literatura Română și Limba Franceză, formând generații de elevi prin credință, cultură și iubire față de oameni.

La 16 iunie 1983, și-a unit viața cu Părintele Ioan Iancu, alături de care a împărtășit peste patru decenii de slujire și jertfelnicie în Biserică, împlinindu-și cu dragoste și devotament chemarea de preoteasă.

În februarie 2006, familia s-a stabilit în Canada, unde a continuat să fie un sprijin neclintit pentru comunitate, o soție iubitoare, o mamă devotată și o bunică plină de tandrețe.

Lasă în urmă pe soțul său, Părintele Ioan Iancu, pe cei doi fii ai lor, Cezar Gabriel și Eduard Alexandru Iancu, și iubiții săi nepoți precum și pe toți cei care au cunoscut-o și au prețuit bunătatea, credința și noblețea sufletului ei.

Slujba înmormântării va avea loc sâmbătă, 1 august 2026, la ora 12:00, la Biserica Greacă „Sfântul Nicolae” din Laval, Québec.

Ne rugăm ca Domnul nostru Iisus Hristos, Cel ce este Învierea și Viața, să odihnească sufletul roabei Sale Mihaela în locașurile drepților, unde nu este durere, nici întristare, nici suspin, ci viață fără de sfârșit.
