Sometimes, one of the most meaningful acts of service happens after an event comes to a close.

FOCUS North America was grateful to have a presence at this year’s Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Clergy-Laity Congress, where members of our team had the opportunity to connect with clergy and faithful from across the country, share the work of FOCUS, and celebrate the growing movement of Orthodox service taking place in communities nationwide.

As the Congress concluded, another opportunity to serve emerged.

Rather than allowing excess food from the event to go to waste, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese coordinated the packing and donation of more than 250 meals for FOCUS Cleveland. Those meals were delivered directly to St. Herman House, where they will help feed both the men living at the shelter and our wider community of neighbors experiencing hunger.

This simple yet powerful act reflects the heart of Orthodox service. Good stewardship became generosity. Hospitality extended beyond the walls of the Congress. And a gathering of the faithful became a blessing for those most in need.

We are deeply grateful to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese for this thoughtful partnership and for helping ensure that these meals continue to nourish lives long after the final session of the Congress.

At FOCUS, moments like these remind us that the Church’s witness is strongest when faith is lived out through love of neighbor. Whether serving a meal, packing backpacks for students, welcoming a family in crisis, or supporting a local FOCUS Center, each act of compassion reveals Christ’s love in tangible ways.

With 13 FOCUS Centers currently serving communities across North America—and four more in development—we continue to witness what is possible when clergy and laity work together to make love visible.

Glory to God for all things.
