As the Christmas season unfolded, we were reminded of the incredible power of generosity and community. This year’s Christmas Gift Collection and Distribution at FOCUS Detroit brought together parishioners, clergy, and community members to ensure that 180 students at the Commonwealth Community Development Academy experienced the joy and magic of the season.

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our supporters, the 2024 collection was our most abundant yet—so much so that a U-Haul was required to transport all the gifts!

A Collaborative Effort Across Parishes

This heartwarming initiative was made possible through the participation of several parishes in the Detroit area, including:

  • The Antiochian Orthodox Basilica of St. Mary (Livonia)
  • St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church (Troy)
  • St. George Greek Orthodox Church (Bloomfield Hills)
  • Nativity of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church (Plymouth)

From collecting the gifts to organizing logistics, clergy and parishioners worked together in the spirit of love and service. Their commitment not only brought Christmas joy to the children but also served as a living testament to the values of faith and compassion.

Joyful Faces and Grateful Hearts

When the gifts were distributed, the smiles on the children’s faces were priceless. Each student at the Commonwealth Community Development Academy received a gift, thanks to the kindness and effort of all involved. Their gratitude was deeply touching, as they expressed heartfelt thanks for the thoughtful presents that brightened their holiday season.

A Thank You from the Heart

To everyone who donated gifts, organized efforts at their parishes, or helped deliver the presents: thank you. Your generosity and dedication made this Christmas special for so many young hearts.

As we move forward into the new year, may this spirit of giving and community continue to inspire us to serve and love our neighbors.
