luminaries

The OCA Department of Christian Education has released a new online activity book for older teens and young adults, entitled “Luminaries.” It describes twelve 20th and 21st century North American Orthodox leaders whose living examples are still fresh in the minds of older Church members. This new offering focuses on men and women of great significance, including two who have been glorified by the Church: our Venerable Father Sebastian Dabovich of Jackson and San Francisco (November 30) and Hieromartyr Vasily Martysz (May 4). Each person featured left indelible marks on the history of Orthodoxy in North America.

The accounts are written in a clear, concise, and informative manner. They present the reader with key biographical facts and inspirational sayings, food for thought, and meaningful discussions. Also included in each chapter are glossaries, key terms, maps, puzzles, journal prompts, and word games, reinforcing information about each person.

You can find the entire series of the DCE Activity books here.
