The Holy Synod of Bishops the Orthodox Church in America will gather for its Spring Session at the Chancery of the Orthodox Church in America from May 7 through 10, 2019.
His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, will preside at sessions, which will commence after the celebration of the Divine Liturgy in the Chancery’s Saint Sergius of Radonezh Chapel on Tuesday morning.
In addition to receiving reports and updates from the Church’s officers, departments, boards, commissions, and dioceses, the members of the Holy Synod will consider a number of other matters, including a review of plans for the celebration of the 50th Anniversaries of the Reception of Autocephaly and the Glorification of Saint Herman of Alaska in 2020.
On Thursday, May 9, the Holy Synod will meet with the 2019 graduating students from Saint Tikhon’s Seminary, South Canaan, PA and Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, Yonkers, NY.
The Holy Synod of Bishops is the supreme canonical authority in the Orthodox Church in America. Chaired by the Metropolitan, the Synod includes as voting members all diocesan bishops.
