Today, in the presence of Ukrainian-French community, Orthodox and Catholic clergy, representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in France and Ambassador Oleg Shamshur, Archbishop Daniel led a Memorial Service at the cemetery in Paris for a hero who was killed 91 years ago – May 25, 1926 – Symon Vasylyovych Petliura (May 22, 1879 – May 25, 1926) a publicist, writer, journalist, Ukrainian politician, statesman of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, and national leader who led Ukraine’s struggle for independence was assassinated in the center of Paris.
The event was organized by Symon Petliura Memorial Library of Paris, France.
