SVOTS

Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary [SVOTS] extends an invitation to prospective students to attend its spring Open House March 15-17, 2017.  The event will feature a full schedule of activities, including attending chapel services and classes, meeting with faculty members, and sharing meals with current seminarians and their families.

Applications for admission from prospective students are being accepted through April 1.

SVOTS currently offers four programs of study, all accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools in the US and Canada, leading to Master of Divinity, Master of Arts, Master of Theology, and Doctor of Ministry degrees.

“Our 74 students possess a wide range of interests and pursuits,” said Archpriest Chad Hatfield, SVOTS President.  “Most are answering a call to the priesthood and are focusing on core theological courses plus intensive pastoral training through prison, hospital, and parish ministries, while others are pursuing scholarly disciplines, such as Canon Law or Biblical Studies, and still others are immersed in the Sacred Arts.

“Additionally, our campus is made up of a wide variety of ethnic cultures and Orthodox jurisdictions—our amazingly diverse student body represents 17 Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox churches. Most seminarians are from the USA, but they also hail from Australia, Canada, Albania, Finland, Serbia, Sweden, Lebanon, Greece, Israel, Germany, Uganda, and New Zealand,” Father Chad added.  “And, we’ve got men and women, married and unmarried, ordained and lay, and scholarly-minded and pastorally-minded graduate students along with post-graduate long-time pastors who are sharpening their pastoral skills through our Doctor of Ministry program.  We even have two non-Orthodox students!

“The best way to get to know us,” Father Chad concluded, “is by following the admonition of Jesus in John 1:39—‘Come and see!’—so we warmly welcome everyone interested to join us for our Open House in March.”
