From October 4-6, the Seventh Annual Assembly Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America was held in the city of Detroit, Michigan. Attending the Assembly were 41 out of the 50 hierarchs carrying out their archpastoral duties in the United States.
During the Assembly, the hierarchs heard reports from the various commissions and departments as well as the election of new secretary and treasurer.
The Russian Orthodox Church was represented by His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA. During the assembly, Bishop John relayed the position of the Russian Orthodox Church during its meeting of the Holy Synod on July 15th, concerning the Council held in Crete on the feast of Pentecost.
Also in attendance were hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, led by her First Hierarch, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York.
