Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology hosted the tenth annual Summer Patristic Studies Program from July 17-22, attracting a diverse group of 43 faculty, doctoral students, clergy, laypeople, and seminarians. The program offered 12 courses on a wide array of topics such as Orthodox spirituality, Scripture, Church history, and asceticism. It was sponsored by the Pappas Patristic Institute, founded in 2003 thanks to a generous grant from the late Stephen Pappas and his wife, Catherine, for the advancement of Greek and Eastern patristic studies.

The Institute’s Director, Dr. Bruce Beck, said, “It never ceases to amaze me how these people from all walks of life and diverse religious traditions can form a sharing, kind community around the reading and discussion of patristic writings.”
