Farnsworth House
Hellenic College senior Alexandra Buliteanu loved her experience volunteering in the cafe of Farnsworth House, which provides affordable housing for frail and disabled elderly. “I assisted with cafeteria duties and socialized with the residents. This experience taught me how valuable it is to be engaged in a community that I am not directly part of, and that each and every one of us can play an important role in bettering our society.”
Alexandra’s placement was arranged through Ethos, a non-profit organization that serves the elderly and disabled. It is one of a number of local sites where students in Hellenic College’s Community Engagement course can fulfill both the requirement to perform volunteer service and Christ’s command to love our neighbors as ourselves.
