RIVES JUNCTION, MI — With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel, on August 14–15, 2026, the Dormition of the Mother of God Romanian Orthodox Monastery in Rives Junction, Michigan, celebrated its patronal feast. This year, His Eminence Archbishop Alexander of Toledo and the Bulgarian Diocese of the Orthodox Church in America participated in the monastery’s patronal feast.
The two-day celebration gathered numerous clergy and pilgrims from the surrounding area and from several Orthodox jurisdictions, who came together in prayer to honor the Dormition of the Mother of God.
On Friday evening, August 14, the celebration began with Great Vespers, followed by Matins and the Lamentations to the Mother of God. The faithful joined the monastic community in prayer as the monastery prepared for the celebration of its patronal feast.
On Saturday, August 15, His Eminence Archbishop Alexander officiated the Holy and Divine Liturgy, assisted by a number of priests and deacons. Clergy, monastics, and pilgrims filled the monastery for the feast, sharing in the liturgical celebration and fellowship that followed.
The Dormition of the Mother of God Orthodox Monastery is led by Mother Abbess Gabriella Ursache. The monastery was founded by Mother Abbess Benedicta Braga, who came to the United States together with a group of nuns from Văratec Monastery in Romania. Their spiritual father was Archimandrite Roman Braga, whose life and ministry had a profound influence on the development of the monastic community and on generations of Orthodox faithful in North America.
Archimandrite Roman Braga, one of the most beloved Romanian Orthodox spiritual fathers in North America, endured imprisonment and persecution under the communist regime in Romania before continuing his monastic and pastoral ministry in the United States. At its 2025 Annual Congress, the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America unanimously supported bringing forward the cause of his canonization for consideration by the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America.
The patronal feast at Rives Junction continues to bring together monastics, clergy, and faithful in honoring the Dormition of the Mother of God and in giving thanks for the spiritual legacy entrusted to the monastery by its founders.

RIVES JUNCTION, MI — Cu binecuvântarea Înaltpreasfințitului Părinte Arhiepiscop Nathaniel, în zilele de 14–15 august 2026, Mănăstirea Ortodoxă Română „Adormirea Maicii Domnului” din Rives Junction, Michigan, și-a sărbătorit hramul. În acest an la hram a participat Înaltpreasfințitul Părinte Alexander, Arhiepiscop de Toledo și al Episcopiei Bulgare a Bisericii Ortodoxe din America.
Sărbătoarea desfășurată pe parcursul celor două zile a reunit numeroși clerici și pelerini din împrejurimi și din mai multe jurisdicții ortodoxe, care s-au adunat în rugăciune pentru a cinsti cum se cuvine Sărbătorea Adormirii Maicii Domnului.
Vineri seara, 14 august, sărbătoarea a început cu Vecernia Mare, urmată de Utrenie și Prohodul Maicii Domnului. Credincioșii s-au alăturat obștii monahale în rugăciune, pregătindu-se pentru sărbătorirea hramului mănăstirii.
Sâmbătă, 15 august, Înaltpreasfințitul Părinte Arhiepiscop Alexander a oficiat Sfânta și Dumnezeiasca Liturghie, alături de numeroși preoți și diaconi. Clerici, monahi și pelerini de aproape și de departe au participat la Sfânta și Dumnezeiasca Liturghie.
Mănăstirea Ortodoxă „Adormirea Maicii Domnului” din Rives Junction, MI, este condusă de Maica Stareță Gabriella Ursache. Mănăstirea a fost întemeiată de Maica Stareță Benedicta Braga, care a venit în Statele Unite împreună cu un grup de monahii de la Mănăstirea Văratec din România. Părintele lor duhovnicesc a fost Arhimandritul Roman Braga, a cărui viață și slujire au avut o influență profundă asupra dezvoltării obștii monahale și asupra mai multor generații de credincioși ortodocși din America de Nord.
Arhimandritul Roman Braga, unul dintre cei mai iubiți părinți duhovnicești români ortodocși din America de Nord, a îndurat închisoarea și persecuțiile regimului comunist din România, continuându-și ulterior slujirea monahală și pastorală în Statele Unite. În cadrul Congresului Anual din 2025, Episcopia Ortodoxă Română din America a susținut în unanimitate înaintarea cauzei canonizării sale spre examinare de către Sfântul Sinod al Bisericii Ortodoxe din America.
Hramul mănăstirii din Rives Junction continuă să adune monahi, clerici și credincioși în cinstirea Adormirii Maicii Domnului și în mulțumire pentru moștenirea duhovnicească lăsată mănăstirii de întemeietorii săi.
