On the evening of June 30, the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate held a reception during the 48th Clergy-Laity Congress in Cleveland, Ohio. Remarks were offered by Patriarchal Representative Metropolitan Arsenios of Austria, National Commander Archon Anthony J. Limberakis, M.D., and Metropolis of Pittsburgh Regional Commanders Archons Nicholas Terezis and Nicholas J. Tranto.

His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America addressed the gathering, reflecting on the Archons’ unique role: “The Archons understand their role – to empower and protect the Mother Church, so that She may fulfill her canonical and spiritual responsibilities to the Church and to the world. We saw a profound recognition of this last September, when His All-Holiness came to America to receive the Templeton Prize, the world’s most prestigious award in religion and science. And the Archons were with him every step of the way. You are, if you will, a special synodia surrounding the sacred person of His All-Holiness.”

The Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate are a devoted group of passionate leaders, relentlessly focused on protecting religious freedom for everyone and ensuring the future of the Ecumenical Patriarchate—the historical spiritual center of the world’s 300+ million Orthodox Christians.
