On the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman, which coincided with Mother’s Day, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America presided over the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church in Greenlawn, New York.
His Eminence was warmly received by Fr. John Vlahos, community leaders, and the children of the parish, whose joyful welcome reflected the love and unity of the faithful gathered on this blessed day.
In his homily, Archbishop Elpidophoros focused on the theme of water, which he said “dominates these three Sundays, the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Sundays of Pascha … Indeed, these Sundays were teachings for the Catechumens who were baptized on Holy Saturday, but we can learn much from them as well.”

The church was filled to overflowing as the community came together in prayer and thanksgiving to honor the mothers whose love, sacrifice, and devotion enrich both family and Church life. Following the Divine Liturgy, each mother received a rose from the Archbishop as a heartfelt expression of gratitude and blessing.
