In the previous academic year, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America awarded nearly $1,000,000 in scholarship assistance to deserving students and youth across the country. In addition to the scholarships administered by the Office of the Chancellor, significant funds were also distributed in the form of camperships and other educational assistance, reflecting the Archdiocese’s continued commitment to supporting the academic and spiritual formation of its youth.
Applications and instructions for the scholarships administered by the Office of the Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America are available for awards to be made for the 2026-2027 academic year. The George & Naouma (Gioule) Gioles Scholarship and the Katina John Malta Scholarship are for undergraduate studies, and the Paleologos Scholarship is awarded for graduate work of a non-theological nature. Additionally, the S. Gregory Taylor Scholarship is available to those pursuing a secondary degree, and the Christos and Georgia Trakatellis Scholarship is available for those pursuing graduate level work. Students matriculating at Hellenic College-Holy Cross School of Theology are eligible to apply for the James J. Tembelis Scholarship.
Additionally, a new scholarship has been established for the 2026–2027 academic year: the Angelina V. Vlisidis Scholarship. The Angelina V. Vlisidis Scholarship is available to students committed to the serious study of chemistry on a full-time basis in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited college or university. This scholarship is intended to support deserving students who demonstrate both academic dedication and a clear commitment to the scientific field of chemistry. Awards will be made in accordance with the established application procedures and eligibility requirements.
Each of these scholarships was established through generous gifts from dedicated Greek Orthodox Christians who wanted to provide financial assistance towards the education of young people from our Orthodox Christian community.
Applications can be accessed by visiting www.goarch.org/-/scholarships for more information, please email scholarships@goarch.org or call 212-570-3577. The deadline for submitting an application for any of these scholarships is May 15, 2026.
