Yesterday, Feb. 1, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America presided over the Divine Liturgy at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Hartford, Connecticut alongside parish priest Fr. George Zugravu.
Archbishop Elpidophoros noted in his homily that the day marked several significant occasions: the Beginning of Triodion and Sunday of the Publican and the Pharisee, the Forefeast of the Presentation of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the 98th birthday of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, formerly of America.
“May the convergence of the Forefeast of the Presentation and the Beginning of Triodion be a reminder that this Cathedral is always alive and open to you,” His Eminence said. “It is always possible to access the Divine, to come into the presence of the Lord, but here in this beautiful setting, our minds and hearts may find it easier to enter into the contemplation of God, and into the contemplation of the purpose and meaning of our lives.”
