Archbishop Elpidophoros of America paid a visit to the “Ionian Center” of the Holy Metropolis of Nea Ionia in the Perissos district of Athens, as part of his ongoing stay in the Greek capital.

He was received by Metropolitan Gabriel of Nea Ionia, Philadelphia, Heraklion and Chalkedon, who welcomed the Archbishop and guided him through the Center’s facilities as well as the thematic park that surrounds the complex.

During the visit, Metropolitan Gabriel outlined the multifaceted character of the Ionian Center, noting that, once fully completed, it is intended to showcase the richness of Asia Minor culture, the enduring historical memory of the region, and the deep spiritual tradition of Asia Minor.

Archbishop Elpidophoros expressed his sincere admiration for this initiative of the Metropolis and underscored the importance of safeguarding the Asia Minor heritage and sustaining the living continuity of the refugee roots of Hellenism, which form an integral part of the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s tradition.
