Today, October 2, 2025, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America received at the Archdiocese headquarters in New York City the leadership of the 2026 Greek Independence Parade on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
The Parade was represented by Lou Katsos, Chairman of the Parade, as well as Nomiki Kastanas, Dimos Siokis, George Mientassas and Demetrius Kalamaras. The committee laid out the plans for the 2026 Parade, as well as the events leading up to Parade weekend.
Following a wide-ranging discussion on the parade and the larger community issues, His Eminence took the opportunity to speak to the leaders about the urgent need for immediate elections in the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York. His Eminence urged the leaders to “restore the unity of the omospodeia and Hellenism in New York.”
