On Monday, September 28, 2026, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon welcomed His Eminence Metropolitan Saba, Archbishop of New York and Metropolitan of the Antiochian Archdiocese of North AmericaAntiochian Archdiocese of North America, to St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral in Washington, DC.
Upon their arrival, His Beatitude and Archpriest Valery Shemchuk welcomed Metropolitan Saba and Fr. Thomas to the Cathedral and offered them a tour of the church. The visit continued with a time of hospitality and fraternal conversation between the two hierarchs.
During their meeting, Metropolitan Tikhon and Metropolitan Saba discussed the life and witness of the Orthodox Church in North America, exchanged perspectives on matters concerning world Orthodoxy, and considered ways in which the Orthodox Church in America and the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America might further strengthen their relationship and cooperation.
The meeting reflected the warm fraternal relationship between the two hierarchs and their shared commitment to fostering Orthodox unity and cooperation in North America.
