Yesterday, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America arrived in Anchorage, Alaska, where he will preside over the consecration of Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church on Saturday, September 19.

Traveling alongside the Archbishop are His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco; His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos; His Grace Bishop Ioannis of Phocaea; and Dimitri Katsiklis, Master Chanter at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine.

The group was greeted by members of the parish, including Fr. Vasili Hillhouse, Holy Transfiguration Church’s parish priest. In the evening, the church’s parish council shared a welcome dinner with the guests.

Ahead of Saturday’s consecration, the Archbishop will also attend a Founding Families dinner and spend time in the Alaskan landscape, visiting the nearby Portage Glacier.
