His Grace Bishop Andrei Officiates the Holy and Divine Liturgy at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Dearborn Heights, Michigan

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI — With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel, on Sunday, August 16, 2026, the 11th Sunday after Pentecost, when the Orthodox Church also commemorates the Holy Brâncoveanu Martyrs, His Grace Bishop Andrei of Cleveland officiated the Holy and Divine Liturgy at Sts. Peter and Paul Romanian Orthodox Church in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.

Assisting His Grace were V. Rev. Fr. Horațiu Bălănean, the parish priest, and V. Rev. Protopresbyter Romey Rosco, assistant priest.

In his homily, His Grace reflected on the Gospel reading for the 11th Sunday after Pentecost, the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant (Matthew 18:23–35). He spoke about the importance of forgiveness and mercy in the Christian life, emphasizing that, just as we receive God’s mercy and forgiveness, we are called to extend the same forgiveness to those around us.

The celebration also coincided with the commemoration of the Holy Brâncoveanu Martyrs: Saint Constantin Brâncoveanu, Prince of Wallachia, his four sons — Constantin, Ștefan, Radu, and Matei — and his counselor Ianache Văcărescu, who gave their lives rather than renounce the Orthodox faith.

Following the Holy and Divine Liturgy, His Grace joined the clergy and faithful in the parish hall for the parish’s annual St. Mary Dinner, offering the community an opportunity for fellowship and time together with their hierarch.

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI — Cu binecuvântarea Înaltpreasfințitului Părinte Arhiepiscop Nathaniel, duminică, 16 august 2026, în Duminica a 11-a după Rusalii, zi în care Biserica Ortodoxă îi pomenește și pe Sfinții Martiri Brâncoveni, Preasfințitul Părinte Andrei de Cleveland a oficiat Sfânta și Dumnezeiasca Liturghie la Parohia Ortodoxă Română „Sfinții Apostoli Petru și Pavel” din Dearborn Heights, Michigan.

Alături de Preasfinția Sa au slujit, PC. Pr. Horațiu Bălănean, preotul paroh, și PC. Pr. Protopresbiter Romey Rosco, preot asistent.

În cuvântul de învățătură, Preasfințitul Părinte Andrei a vorbit despre Evanghelia Duminicii a 11-a după Rusalii, Pilda datornicului nemilostiv (Matei 18, 23–35). Preasfinția Sa a subliniat importanța iertării și a milostivirii în viața creștină, arătând că, așa cum noi primim mila și iertarea lui Dumnezeu, suntem chemați să oferim aceeași iertare celor din jurul nostru.

În această zi, Biserica Ortodoxă îi pomenește pe Sfinții Martiri Brâncoveni: Sfântul Voievod Constantin Brâncoveanu, cei patru fii ai săi — Constantin, Ștefan, Radu și Matei — și sfetnicul Ianache Văcărescu, care și-au dat viața pentru credința ortodoxă, refuzând să se lepede de Hristos.

După Sfânta și Dumnezeiasca Liturghie, Preasfințitul Părinte Andrei s-a alăturat clerului și credincioșilor în sala parohială, unde a avut loc tradiționala masă anuală „St. Mary Dinner”, organizată de parohie, prilej de comuniune și de întâlnire a credincioșilor cu ierarhul lor.
