With immense joy, the faithful of the Annunciation Church in New York City gathered to celebrate their patronal feast, welcoming His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America for the solemn celebration of the Feast of the Annunciation. The service was a profound encounter with the mystery of God’s plan revealed through the Theotokos, lifting all hearts in prayer, hymn, and thanksgiving. His Eminence’s presence brought encouragement and spiritual nourishment, reminding us that God calls each of us to respond with faith, trust, and openness, just as the Holy Virgin embraced the angelic message.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a doxology was offered in prayer and thanksgiving for Greek Independence Day, honoring the courage and sacrifice of those who paid the ultimate price for the freedom of their homeland. The day was made even more memorable as His Eminence honored the parish’s devoted Proistamenos, Rev. Soritios Michalatos, recognizing his faithful service, along with the dedicated members of the parish council, for their tireless work in shepherding the life of the community. May their example continue to inspire all of us to live with willingness, humility, and devotion, saying with the Theotokos, “Let it be done to me according to Your word.”
