As part of the initiatives for the promotion of the Greek language and  culture undertaken by the Department of Greek Education of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, headquartered in New York City and legally represented by Protopresbyter Fr. Gregory Stamkopoulos, Director of the Department of Greek Education, a new professional development program entitled “Children’s Literature, Song and Dance: Innovative Teaching Approaches for the Instruction of the Greek Language” will commence in March 2026.

The program is addressed to educators of the Greek diaspora in the United States. The program has been designed by Rosy-Triantafyllia Angelaki, Post- doc, Assistant Professor in the Department of Early Childhood Education at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, who teaches “Historical and Critical Approaches to Children’s Literature.”

The professional development program forms part of the consolidation and deepening of the collaboration between the Department of Greek Education of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and the Department of Early Childhood Education of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. This collaboration was officially agreed upon and secured through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, aiming to strengthen the connection between the Department of Early Childhood Education and the Greek-American community in the United States.

The program is held under the auspices of the Secretary General for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,  Ms. Maira Myrogianni.
