New York, NY—The National Philoptochos Society had the distinct honor of welcoming seminarians from the Hellenic College Holy Cross School of Theology Graduating Class of 2026 to the Philoptochos Center of Philanthropy during their visit to New York City. This gathering of the senior seminarians’ visit to the Philoptochos Center of Philanthropy, established in the spring of 2023, has quickly become a cherished tradition, and National Philoptochos looks forward to continuing it for many years to come.

The evening was a heartfelt expression of fellowship and mentorship, reflecting a shared commitment to the life, leadership, and future of the Church. The seminarians were accompanied by Father Bartholomew Mercado and Father Gregory Gournades, whose presence underscored the sacred calling these young men are preparing to embrace and the vital partnership between future clergy and Philoptochos in parish life.

The program featured an engaging presentation and dialogue led by National Philoptochos Secretary Philippa Condakes, National Philoptochos Treasurer Anna Vedouras, and Marketing and Communications Associate Katherine Clark. Although unable to attend in person, Department of Social Services Director Paulette Geanacopoulos and Administrative Assistant Elizabeth Douglass played an integral role in shaping the evening’s program. In Paulette’s stead, Anna Vedouras offered a thoughtful introduction to the Department of Social Services, highlighting the breadth of Philoptochos’ philanthropic outreach and its enduring presence in parish communities across the country.

More than a presentation, the gathering was a meaningful exchange. National Board Members Christina Balidis, Irene Hotzoglou (Archdiocesan District Philoptochos President), and Bessie Ziozis participated in a dynamic dialogue with the seminarians, whose thoughtful questions sparked fresh ideas and renewed enthusiasm for collaborative ministry.

The evening continued with a shared dinner, creating a warm, welcoming space for fellowship. Around the table, conversations deepened, relationships formed, and a powerful message was reaffirmed: Philoptochosis, and will always be, a steadfast partner in ministry. As these seminarians prepare to serve parishes across the country, they were reminded that Philoptochos stands beside them, not only as philanthropic leaders within their future communities but as a constant source of support for them and their families throughout their journey.

The seminarians expressed their gratitude, sharing: “The women of Philoptochos are a loving embrace for our seminarians as we embark on the journey of our studies. Your love and maternal care not only help to support us monetarily, but also as a symbol of love. Your kindness to the world around you is the beating heart of our Church, serving as an example for our current and future clergy.”

The evening was a powerful testament to the spirit of collaboration that strengthens the Church, faithful women, and future clergy united in service, compassion, and shared purpose. Through open dialogue, fellowship, and prayer, National Philoptochos reaffirmed its enduring commitment: wherever these seminarians are called to serve, Philoptochos will be there, supporting their ministries, uplifting their families, and working hand in hand to serve Christ and those in need.
