On January 31st, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America attended Parathosi, an annual celebration of Hellenic heritage and dance hosted by the Direct Archdiocesan District (DAD). It was an opportunity for the youth of the DAD to come together to celebrate faith, culture, and heritage in a spirit of Orthodox fellowship.

Parathosi is a ministry of the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries of the Direct Archdiocesan District, giving youth the opportunity to showcase their knowledge of traditional dances, songs and costumes from various regions.

“I am so happy to be present today with all of you: clergy, ministry servant-leaders, parents and family members, and above all, the young people participating in this year’s Parathosi Celebration of Hellenic Heritage and Dance,” Archbishop Elpidophoros said. “When we connect through dance and music, it doesn’t matter what your ethnic background is. You enter into a very special mode of communion, not only with the experience itself, but with your fellow participants.”
