Yesterday, the charter and official certificate of the consecration of Saint George Orthodox Church, which took place on October 12, 2024, was presented to the community by His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America.

The Rum Orthodox community of Saint George was established by His Eminence in October 2020 at the Greek Orthodox Church of our Savior in Rye, New York, where they worshiped for three years before moving to the current location in Yonkers. Having a temple of their own is a milestone in the life of the community and a testament to faith, perseverance, and unity.

Pictured with His Eminence are the Chancellor of the Direct Archdiocesan District, Rev. Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne Elias Villis; the Proistamenos of the parish, Rev. Protopresbyter Soterios Baroody; and representatives of the Saint George parish leadership.
