Flushing, NY — In recognition of Human Trafficking Awareness Month, Father Peter Spiro visited St. Nicholas School in Flushing, New York, where he addressed students in grades five through eight on critical topics related to personal safety, online security, and human trafficking.
During the presentation, Father Peter spoke candidly and age-appropriately about online predators, digital risks, and the realities of human trafficking, emphasizing the importance of awareness, discernment, and vigilance both online and in everyday life. Students were encouraged to think carefully about their digital interactions and to approach the online world with both caution and prayerfulness.
The students were highly engaged throughout the presentation, asking thoughtful questions and actively participating in discussion. Practical guidance was provided to help students recognize warning signs, make safe choices, and understand where to turn for help when something does not feel right.
The visit reflects an ongoing commitment to education and prevention through early awareness, equipping young people with the tools they need to navigate an increasingly complex digital landscape while remaining grounded in faith and responsibility.
Freedom Ministry is dedicated to education, prevention, and survivor support in the fight against human trafficking. Through parish outreach, school presentations, and community engagement, the ministry works to raise awareness and provide practical resources rooted in faith and compassion.
