theophany

On January 6, 2026, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon celebrated the great feast of the Theophany of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at St. Mark Orthodox Church, Bethesda, MD.

Concelebrating with His Beatitude were Archpriest Alessandro Margheritino, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, Archpriest Gregory Safchuk, rector of St. Mark’s and Dean of the Washington Deanery, and Priest Nicholas Roth. Also serving were Deacon Michael Mihailov and Deacon Matthew Prentice.

The liturgical celebration was accompanied by the beautiful responses sung by the St. Mark’s choir, under the direction of choir director Sharon Sielinski.

In his homily, His Beatitude reflected on Theophany as the sanctification of all creation. He spoke of the Lord’s baptism in the Jordan as the renewal not only of the world itself, but also of the faithful, who are called to live in the light of Christ’s divine revelation.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a festive meal was served.
