The news release from the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Detroit:

“Join us on February 7th and 8th, 2026, at Annunciation Church in Rochester, NY, with Rev. Father Romanos Karanos, Ph. D., Director of the Byzantine Music Program at Hellenic College Holy Cross, and Georgios Theodoridis, Archon Mousikodidaskalos of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese & Director of the School of Byzantine Music.

This workshop has been created with the help of the SBM and the Detroit Youth Director, Fr. Maggos of Annunciation Church in Rochester, and Rick Hanson (SBM Administrator) for exposure to the rich tradition of the Psaltic art in our Holy Orthodox Church and for continuing education. The workshop includes a short morning presentation on the psaltic art, lunch, and a practicum portion to learn and apply notations and hymns, including but not limited to how to set up Orthros. Vespers will follow with both professors chanting antiphonally. The following day, on Sunday, it is encouraged for those who attended the workshop to stay overnight and put to practice or simply witness a full Orthros and Divine Liturgy in the Byzantine Antiphonal Tradition.

Adults of any level of chant experience or interest are encouraged to attended. Register today at: https://tinyurl.com/newyorkchant

Full details of the schedule will be emailed prior to the workshop.”
