Saint Basil Academy (SBA) in Garrison, New York welcomed Fr. Peter Spiro as a guest speaker for an important educational session focused on human trafficking awareness and prevention.
Fr. Peter, Director of the GOARCH FREEDOM Ministry, provided an overview of the complex realities of human trafficking and highlighted the many vulnerabilities that place individuals—especially youth—at increased risk.
During his presentation, Fr. Peter outlined key warning signs, common tactics used by traffickers, and the social, emotional, and economic factors that can heighten susceptibility. He also engaged staff and students in a robust question-and-answer segment, addressing practical concerns related to self-protection, personal safety, digital boundaries, and safeguarding oneself from predators and online groomers.
The session was part of SBA’s ongoing commitment to equipping its community with critical knowledge and empowerment tools to help prevent exploitation.
