On Sunday, Nov. 9th, St. Michael’s Home hosted its Annual Name Day Gala at the Metropolitan Club in New York City. This year’s event honored distinguished members of the community Libby & Mike Angeliades with the 2025 Archangel Michael Award, in recognition of their accomplishments in the world of commerce and especially their magnanimous support of so many worthy causes.

Introduced by Fr. Alex Karloutsos, Mr. Angeliades, born on the island of Simi, accepted the award “on behalf of all the early immigrants who built brick-by-brick the churches, schools and institutions of our Archdiocese.”

Also in attendance were His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America and Vice-Chair of the Archdiocese John Catsimatidis as well as steadfast benefactors of the Home and family and friends of the honorees.  The evening featured a 3D rendering video of the new continuum care facility under construction in Uniondale, which is 70% complete.

The gala celebrates the quality care offered by St. Michael’s Home since 1958 and raises critical funds to enhance this ministry and keep boarding fees affordable. Moreover, the annual event is an opportunity to showcase the exciting relocation and expansion project which will greatly expand the facility and the levels of care it will provide the seniors of the community. During the evening’s festivities, over $225,000 in new pledges were generously offered by those in attendance to complete the project.
