Fr. Peter Spiro, Director of the GOARCH Freedom National Ministry, recently presented at a Cybersecurity and Human Trafficking Conference hosted by the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Nassau, Bahamas. The event brought together faith leaders, community members, and government officials to confront the challenges of online exploitation and trafficking.
During the conference, Fr. Spiro delivered multiple sessions to the church and local community, focusing on how predators and traffickers operate in the digital sphere. His presentations outlined the dangers of cyber-enabled trafficking and the importance of education, vigilance, and prevention.
In one session, Fr. Spiro presented alongside the Bahamian National Security Director for Trafficking in Persons, addressing the methods traffickers use for digital recruitment and the urgent need for cross-sector collaboration to combat these practices.
Beyond the conference sessions, Fr. Spiro also spoke at a televised community event attended by the First Lady of the Prime Minister of The Bahamas, representatives from service agencies, and students from schools across Nassau. His participation emphasized the importance of building awareness at every level of society, specifically speaking to the young people in attendance, in the effort to counter online exploitation.
During his visit, Fr. Peter commended Annunciation Parish, recognizing it as a banner parish in the fight against trafficking for its steadfast commitment and continued leadership in raising awareness and advancing prevention efforts.
The Freedom Ministry continues its mission of advancing anti-trafficking education and prevention internationally, working with churches, governments, and local organizations to protect vulnerable populations from human trafficking.
