The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, through its Department of Inter-Orthodox, Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations, has been active at the United Nations since 1979 and was accredited through the United Nations Economic and Social Council (“ECOSOC”) General Consultative Status in 1985. In 2021 the Archdiocese received additional accreditation through the United Nations Environment Programme. The mission of this ministry is to be a voice for the voiceless, an advocate for the oppressed, and an avenue for peace.
