On May 7, 2023 His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon made a pastoral visit to the parish of Holy Ghost Orthodox Church in Bridgeport, CT. His Beatitude presided at the celebration of the hierarchical Divine Liturgy where he ordained Deacon Mark Roosien to the Holy Priesthood. Concelebrating with His Beatitude were Archpriest John Kreta, Chancellor of the Diocese of New England, Archpriest Chad Hatfield, President of Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, as well as several other local clergy.
His Beatitude preached a homily on the Myrrhbearing Women and their witness to the resurrection. He stated that as the message of the Myrrhbearers was shared with the disciples and from the disciples to the world, so now that responsibility falls to us since our Lord “has chosen us to share that news [of the gospel] with neighbors, strangers, friends, and enemies—whoever may cross our path.”
During the Liturgy, His Beatitude awarded the nebedrennik and purple skufia to Father Moses Locke. Following the service, a festive luncheon was served in the parish hall.
God grant Father Mark many years!
