On January 30, 2022 His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon presided at the celebration of the Divine Liturgy on the patronal feast day of the Three Hierarchs Chapel at Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary. Concelebrating with him were Father Chad Hatfield, President of the Seminary, Father Alexander Rentel, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, and seminary clergy.
Following the Liturgy, His Beatitude greeted Fr Chad Hatfield and the entire seminary community. In his remarks His Beatitude noted the Three Hierarchs each contributed “different, but harmonious, sounds to the music of theology” and encouraged Christians to imitate these saints by also contributing “our harmonious notes to the great music of God.” His Beatitude continued, “the Christian who desires to imitate these three great saints must allow himself to be played by the Spirit as a supple, obedient instrument, in harmony with all the music of past ages, and in harmony with his fellow-faithful in his own time.”
