Speakers and topics for the annual Fall Lecture Series sponsored by Saint Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary [STOTS] were recently announced.

Focusing this year on the Orthodox Christian understanding of Scripture, the popular lecture series will be held in the seminary refectory on Tuesday evenings—October 16, 23 and 30, and November 6—at 7:00 p.m.

Archpriest Lawrence Farley, Rector of Saint Herman of Alaska Church, Langley, BC, Canada, and well known author, will deliver the opening lecture, titled “Gender in Genesis,” on October 16.  “Six Days of Creation: Scientific Inquiry and Biblcal Text” will be the topic of the October 23 lecture by Archpriest Victor Gorodenchuk, Dean of Saint Stephen Cathedral, Philadelphia, PA.  Dr. Justin Gohl, Lecturer in Old Testament Literature at Reformed Episcopal Seminary, Blue Bell, PA, will explore the topic of “Christ in the Proverbs” on October 30.  The closing lecture, titled “The Soul’s Longing: An Orthodox Perspective on Biblical Interpretation,” will be delivered by Dr. Mary Ford, STOTS Associate Professor of New Testament and Spirituality, on November 6.
